About us
The Launch Community is an experiment in what becomes possible when we practice community with people we don't already know. We're an unlikely community - people with different backgrounds, life paths, and experiences, all showing up with curiosity and care.
Most communities form around shared interests or identities. We're different. We think isolation and individualism wear us down, and that connection across different experiences makes us stronger. We need each other not just in crisis, but in everyday life.
Our gatherings are welcoming, joyful, and grounded in real human connection. We're learning how to cultivate belonging with others - no training wheels. We're building a culture of encouragement, reciprocity, and support for whatever each of us is trying to grow.
You don't need to be "launching" anything specific. The Launch Community is about creating your launch pad through community for whatever you want to pursue.

Stranger Social: Bonding at the Beach
Mission Bay, 46 Dudley Road Mission Bay, Auckland, NZJoin us on Sunday 1 March 2026, from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, at Mission Bay for fun beach activities and meeting new people.
At this month's Stranger Social, we're gathering as a community, to bid farewell to summer. We'll have intriguing sports and creative activities available, to capture the last joyful moments of summer together. Some friendly competition activities may also occur too (depending on interest and weather permitting). In the event of rainy weather, we’ll gather together in Mission Bay Cafe & Bistro for a delicious brunch.
Please feel welcome to show up solo. Stranger Socials are designed to assist you in feeling welcomed, introduced and included from the start. They're a chance to meet people you wouldn't normally run into.
What is the Launch Community?
We're an experiment in unlikely community. Most groups form around shared interests. We're more interested in what happens when you practice connection with people you don't already know. We think isolation wears us down, and that connection across different experiences makes us stronger.
Our gatherings are welcoming, joyful, and grounded in real human connection. You don't need to be "launching" anything specific. This is about creating space for whatever you want to pursue through community. How the event will work:
We start with a quick warm-up game for everyone (optional if you're running late). Then a brief welcome where we'll explain who we are and how the day works. We’ll have frisbee and volleyball games for our sports enthusiasts, a sandcastle building competition and art resources will be provided for an 'en plein air' (French for 'in the open air') art session. You are welcome to swim and you can check the beach water quality on the day, at the Safeswim website.
We'll wrap up with some reflections, as well as a chance to continue hanging out with community members, after our event has ended.
Who comes to Launch Community events?
We have all sorts of people in the Launch Community. Many of us are working on projects or goals and looking for community. Some are new to Auckland. Generally, we're people getting out of our comfort zones a bit and looking for our way into community. What we have in common is wanting real connection with different people we can share with and learn from. Check out our Instagram to get a feel for what we're all about (@the_launch_hub).Logistics:
